Vesicoureteral Reflux

It is confirmed, Erynn does in fact have VU Reflux. We had our appointment in Tucson today and they did the x-ray with contrast dye in the bladder. It indicated that she has "significant" reflux to both sides. Right now the plan of action is prophylaxis antibiotics in the hopes of preventing another infection. She will have to have another US in six months and then another VCUG at one year of age. It looks like we are in this for the long haul. Erynn is going to have to be monitored very closely for the rest of her life. There is the possibility that she will out grow this in a few years. We are going to do everything we can to prevent further infections. If break through infections occur, then we have to start thinking surgery.

Thank you to everyone for their prayers and well wishes. We love Erynn so much and are so grateful for the support of friends and family.

Oh, forgot to mention that Erynn is one tough cookie. She hardly cried at all during the procedure. She handled it like a champ. I am so proud of her.

I am so glad that it wasn't something worse. It won't be easy, but she is so lucky to have you for a mother! She is so adorable!

I am so very glad that dr. smith had you go to the specialist and didnt just disregard it! She is such a good baby to barely cry! I hope that she does outgrow it and that she can have a long and healthy life. So who is the super mom now! I love ya Erica and will pray for her health. I am sorry that you have this trial in your life , and i know things have been really hard the past several months but i know that Heavenly Father loves you and will take care of you and your family.

Oh Erica. I am so sorry. That really stinks. She will definately be in our prayers. Atleast they caught on to what was going on and the Dr's are taking action. Thanks for understanding about my post of complaints. I looked at it later and decided that was what it was. I'm at GVC. I love the drs there. Where did you go?

Poor baby! At least they were able to figure it out before she got older and it got worst! Hopefully she will grow out of it by the time she is one and that will be the end of it! Good luck I'm glad to hear she was a trooper and wasn't that uncomfortable during the procedure.
